Hello everyone and welcome. I must admit, I feel a little uncertain about where to begin. Writing has always been a passion of mine, something I have enjoyed since I was young. However, after getting married and having children, life became rather busy and I found myself with less time to put my thoughts onto paper. Nevertheless, whenever possible, I have continued to jot down my thoughts, and I make a habit of recording any dreams I remember in my personal diary.

Finding a Safe Space for Thoughts

I felt it was about time to create a space where I could safely share some of my thoughts, and where like-minded people may find a sense of connection or understanding.

Love of Reading and Writing

One of my great loves is reading, though I only get the chance when time allows. Lately, I have been making more time for writing, focusing particularly on a novel I have been working on for several years. Despite my efforts, progress has been slow, but I remain determined to see it through.

Professional and Personal Roles

As I have mentioned, I work part-time as a nurse in palliative care. My work is delicate, supporting patients, families, and carers during challenging times. I find this role immensely rewarding, as it allows me to connect with people in a deeply personal way—far beyond what I have experienced in previous roles.

Alongside my nursing, I am also a full-time mum. This role is equally rewarding, though often challenging. There are times when I feel as though I am constantly carrying the mental load for both myself and my children, and it can be difficult to switch off from this responsibility.

The Importance of Escapism

Reading and writing provide me with an essential escape from the demands of daily life, allowing me to step away from my usual roles and lose myself in different worlds. I hope that, as you read this, you may find something relatable or comforting within my words.
